Jamie Cassavoy de Gonzalez, a native Vermonter, received an MFA in metalsmithing and design from RIT School for American Craft in 1996. After graduating, she worked in Providence, RI for two years as a model maker for a large manufacturer of precious metal jewelry. In 1998 she moved to Birmingham, Alabama to live closer to her family and started her jewelry design business, Cassavoy and Company. Today the company is based in Atlanta, GA.
Jamie is a first generation jewelry designer but comes from a long line of entrepreneurs. From hardware to architecture, tires to wine importing, Jamie’s extended family has owned and operated a wide variety of businesses.
From the beginning, the goal of Cassavoy & Company has been to make limited production and one of a kind jewelry made by hand. From sterling silver, 18k gold and precious and semi-precious gems, Jamie and her staff meticulously craft each piece.
The collection, which constantly evolves, consists of about 120 pieces that are all produced in her Atlanta, GA studio. Her clientele includes boutiques, catalogs, and museum stores all over the country in addition to galleries in the United Kingdom and Canada.
Jamie’s influences are extensive. Cassavoy has culled inspiration from aesthetics as diverse as Art Deco and African tribal art; however, looking outside her window at the trees and flowers growing in her yard is her favorite inspiration. Using botanicals as the base for all of the designs in her line, Jamie has also mixed together clean lines, feminine forms that look delicate yet substantial, and texture with accents of color to create a line
of jewelry that has gained a large and loyal following,
Ultimately, Jamie’s goal is to produce beautiful jewelry that is a pleasure to wear and makes the wearer feel beautiful.
